MacBooks

Along with developing literacy and numeracy skills, Mercy Regional College recognises the importance of digital literacy of our students. To complete school work all students require an Apple MacBook, which is acquired through the College MacBook program.

Years 7 – 9

  • The MacBook is provided for students in Years 7 – 9 as part of their College fees.
  • The College supplies a carry bag and a clip-on hardcover at no charge.
  • The College retains ownership of the MacBook which is handed back at the completion of Year 9.
  • The MacBooks are bundled with a 3-Year AppleCare+ Warranty which covers accidental damage (including screen breakages *).
  • Theft and Water Damage is not covered by the school insurance policy. The Parent/Guardian will be responsible for the replacement of the MacBook should it be stolen or irreparable due to water damage.

Years 10 – 12

  • Going into Year 10, students can decide on the best MacBook to suit their subject focus in senior Years.
  • Parents have the option to purchase the MacBook of choice outright or repay over 6 months. They can also choose to rent the students’ current MacBook from the College.
  • The MacBooks are supplied by the College via an Education Discount which provides a significant saving compared to market prices.
  • The MacBooks are bundled with a 3-Year AppleCare+ Warranty which covers accidental damage (including screen breakages *).
  • The College retains ownership of the MacBook until the device is paid for in full by the Parent/Guardian.
  • All non-warranty repairs are paid for by the Parent/Guardian.
  • Insurance on the MacBook is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian. The device may be included under a personal home and contents or a ‘single item’ insurance policy.

* Screen breakage repairs incur a nominal fee of $149.
