LEARNING

MRC Vision for Learning and Teaching

IN THE CLASSROOM

Our work at Mercy Regional College is underpinned by a belief that all can learn. How each young person learns is known and their capabilities understood. Classroom based learning is guided, purposeful and intentional by design. Learning expectations are rigorous and clearly communicated so that all young people strive to achieve their personal best.

IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY

Mercy Regional College learners are supported to participate in all aspects of school life. They are encouraged to seek opportunities to collaborate and challenge themselves and others in wide ranging areas. They value and nurture positive relationships with all. Learning at Mercy Regional College takes place across ages and levels and recognises the value of explicit social and emotional learning for personal development and wellbeing.

IN OUR REGIONAL COMMUNITY

Mercy Regional College is part of a continuing tradition of learning and being together on this ancient country of the Peoples of the Maar Nation. We recognise that learning takes place beyond the gates of the school. In the spirit of our Mercy tradition, we strive to build on what we have been given, honour the legacy of our founders and learn to care for our common home. We draw upon the people and places of our community to help us learn and use our learning for the benefit of those in the community.

IN THE FUTURE

Mercy Regional College’s young people take an active role in the community they choose to be a part of, whether that be near or far. They have the skills to communicate, collaborate and innovate to solve complex problems. Our young people are equipped to grow into adults who have the confidence and capabilities to live fulfilling lives.
